Stone Hill’s Upper Tier Trail Network Completed

Volunteers finish access and connecting trails of the Upper Tier Trail network

The final day of the trail season is in the books! Despite the smoke, a solid group of volunteers rallied out to Stone Hill to put the finishing touches on the Upper Tier Trail network.

The final trail day was originally planned for Lakeside Wall, but the Stewards decided to complete what they started last summer by returning to the Upper Tier. On the third full day of trail work, volunteers dug and scraped trails up to the base of the major formations, most notably connecting Jah Rock to Tower of Power.

This was a huge undertaking, and the NWMTCC hopes these trails inspire folks to check out the tall, classic climbs of Stone Hill’s Upper Tier. A huge thanks to all of our volunteers this summer, especially Jack Beard, who didn’t miss a single trail day! Thanks also to Dan and Marcy at the Rexford Ranger District, whose guidance and support helped us make the best decisions we could as to how these trails should be built. A final thanks to the American Alpine Club and REI Coop, whose generous funding made this project possible.

The next trail day is scheduled for April 10th, where volunteers will improve access to Ginseng Wall. Please check out the projects page for more info!
