New Anchors on the way for Hold Up Bluffs

After only a few months since the coalition’s first meeting, the funds are already flowing.

NWMTCC Awarded $1,000 Grant

An old set of classic chains above Hold Up Bluffs, Stone Hill. These will be replaced with hangers and even-length chains for easier rappelling.

The Access Fund just awarded $1,000 to the Northwest Montana Climbers’ Coalition. The dedication of our board members has been incredible. They put in a very detailed application, describing the need to upgrade all of the outdated anchors at Hold Up Bluffs. This re-bolting project will be our benchmark for bolting standards in the area. We will be using 1/2″ stainless steel bolts and hangers, as well as 3/8″ chain and quick links. New, complete anchors will not only be safer, but will allow easier rappelling from any route. With the amount of top-rope traffic at HUB, it’s time we bring it up to standard.

Our deepest thanks to the Access Fund for giving us this opportunity. We can’t wait to get started!
