LOCAL CLIMBING AREAS

Point of Rocks

Point of Rocks, affectionately known as POR, encompasses a wide swath of forest land situated between Whitefish and Eureka. Most of the climbing areas are located within the Stillwater State Forest, with multiple access points along Highway 93. A guidebook for POR is available at Rocky Mountain Outfitter in Kalispell.

Stillwater State Forest is designated as state trust land. The revenue collected from the use of this land goes toward supporting Montana schools. All recreational users of state trust lands including POR who are over the age of 12 must possess a Montana Conservation License, which can be obtained here. The license is good for 1 year, starting March 1 annually.

Leave No Trace principles should be followed while climbing at Point of Rocks. Parking is limited, and forest service gates should never be parked in front of unless otherwise noted.
